Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does the Helios MP55 meet a 55-pint AHAM minimum but fail a 56-pint minimum?
The exact page rates the MP55 at 55 PPD AHAM and 120 PPD saturation; the saturation number is not substituted.
Explore this need in the finder →Can it meet a 15-foot vertical pump rise but not a 20-foot requirement?
The exact page lists a maximum vertical pump height of 19.6 ft; total route reach remains unreported.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the MP55 remain a candidate with app control optional, but fail if app control is essential?
The family manual shows multiple panel versions and the exact MP55 page does not identify app connectivity for this suffix.
Explore this need in the finder →The AlorAir Helios MP55 is the larger pump-equipped Helios option in this group: 55 pints per day at AHAM conditions, a stated maximum vertical pump rise of 19.6 feet, and a separate gravity-drain mode.
I used AlorAir’s exact Helios MP55 product page, its exact-page-linked MP35/MP55 family manual, and the model-linked image. The manual’s common instructions are not used to infer an MP55 WiFi variant or certification.
Capacity compared on the right basis
The manufacturer rates the MP55 at 55 pints per day under AHAM conditions and 120 pints at saturation. Those are different test conditions; the 120-pint figure should not be compared with another model’s AHAM rating. AlorAir markets this model for spaces up to 1,500 square feet, but that is not a moisture-load assessment. Crawl-space ground vapor, leakage, climate and water intrusion all affect the demand.
The exact page lists 167 CFM, a COP of 2.08, 58 dBA, R32 refrigerant, MERV-1 filtration, 33–105°F operation, 43.21 pounds and a 22-by-15.7-by-15.7-inch body. Check the access hatch and room for filter servicing; it is larger and heavier than the 35-pint Helios options. The product page does not establish ENERGY STAR certification.
Choose pump or gravity according to the outlet
The MP55 includes a built-in condensate pump, and AlorAir states up to 19.6 feet of vertical discharge. The shared manual also documents a gravity path to a lower outlet. A 19.6-foot vertical limit does not tell you how far the hose can run horizontally, whether several bends are acceptable, or the total line length supplied. Measure rise and complete reach separately and confirm the final routing with the product instructions. If the outlet is more than 19.6 feet above the unit, the model’s stated limit is not enough.
For a gravity installation, the line must slope down to an outlet below the drain port. A pump is not automatically necessary when the floor drain is already lower; conversely, gravity cannot substitute for an uphill route. The MP55 product page says a drain hose is included but does not identify total package length in the sources reviewed. Do not read the promotional image’s coiled hose or “19.6 ft” tag as a complete route-length specification.
Controls that remain unconfirmed
The exact page claims a 25–80% RH setting range. The family manual describes 20–80% settings in five-point increments, leaving the lower endpoint in conflict. Use neither lower value as guaranteed for the exact MP55 revision. The common manual includes Wi-Fi and conventional panel illustrations, but that does not establish that a particular product page’s MP55 includes the radio or app hardware. Wi-Fi and app control therefore remain unknown. ENERGY STAR status is also not established for the exact model.
The manual documents grounded/GFCI electrical requirements, GPP and humidity functions, gravity drainage and filter care. It does not make every configuration identical to a related Sentinel or D35. If a connected control, exact lower setpoint, or certification is a hard requirement, get documentation for the exact MP55 suffix before purchase.
When the 55-pint option is worth the size
The MP55 is a reasonable candidate when a 55-pint AHAM class is justified and the location needs a pump lift. Compared with the MP35, it raises the published capacity and airflow but also increases cabinet size, weight and listed sound. If 35 pints is sufficient and an uphill drain still matters, the MP35 may be easier to place. Where gravity is available and energy certification matters, the smaller Helios D35 has an exact ENERGY STAR 6.0 statement but no pump.
The 1,500-square-foot claim is not a promise that the machine will overcome poor drainage, an open crawl-space boundary or a continuing leak. MERV-1 is a basic filter label, not a medical air-cleaning claim. Resolve the water source first, then size the appliance using the room conditions and the actual humidity control you need.
Before you install
Confirm that the cabinet and service area fit, provide the grounded supply described by the manual, and secure either a downhill gravity route or a pump route within the stated vertical ceiling. Keep the line inspectable so blockage or a loose fitting is not hidden behind insulation. The most useful distinction is straightforward: the MP55 offers more rated capacity than the MP35 while keeping the same published 19.6-foot vertical pump limit. Its exact app status, certification and total hose reach are not documented here, and those gaps should shape a purchase decision rather than be filled with a related model’s specifications.
