AlorAir Sentinel HDi90 (Built-in Pump) review

A pump-equipped, 90-pint-AHAM crawl-space dehumidifier for a continuous discharge route where the outlet may sit above the appliance; the exact materials do not publish a numeric lift limit.

A useful fit for

A 90-pint-AHAM crawl-space or basement option when a pump discharge is required and the installer can verify the needed rise and total hose route with AlorAir.

The main tradeoff

The included drain hose and pump are documented, but maximum vertical lift and hose reach are unknown. The exact no-Wi-Fi materials do not establish app control or app-activated pump operation.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does the HDi90 Built-in Pump meet an 80-pint AHAM minimum but not 100?

Its exact AHAM rating is 90 pints/day; the separate saturation figure is not a 100-pint AHAM rating.

Does the pump-equipped HDi90 support an unmeasured pump route, but fail a required one-foot lift until the maximum is documented?

A pump route is documented, but the exact instructions do not give a numerical maximum rise.

The AlorAir Sentinel HDi90 (Built-in Pump) is the pump-equipped 90-pint-per-day member of the crawl-space and basement line. Its core advantage over the conventional HD90 is the documented condensate pump; its main unresolved practical limit is that the reviewed manufacturer materials do not state a maximum vertical pump lift.

I used AlorAir’s exact HDi90 Built-in Pump listing, its linked HDi90 specification sheet, and its linked HDi90 non-Wi-Fi installation and operations manual.

The same capacity class, with a different water route

The exact page and sheet publish 90 pints per day at AHAM conditions, while the product page separately advertises 198 pints at saturation and the spec sheet lists 47.71 pints at DOE conditions. Those test figures answer different questions; use the AHAM rating for the finder’s daily-removal threshold. The manufacturer markets the unit for up to 2,600 square feet, but crawl-space moisture load depends on ground cover, leakage, drainage and temperature, not floor area alone. A 90-pint unit is an ambitious fit for a persistently damp or larger space, not a substitute for fixing water entry.

The decisive distinction from the plain Sentinel HD90 is drainage. The HDi90 page and model-specific sheet identify a condensate pump, and the listing’s box contents name a drain hose. The manual describes the pump, its water-level warning and a test procedure. That makes it a more plausible choice where the drain outlet sits above the unit than the gravity-only HD90. However, the source set gives no numeric maximum vertical rise or total hose reach. A pump is not a license to guess: measure both the vertical rise and route length, then confirm they are within the current instructions before relying on it.

It still needs a serviceable installation

The unit measures 23.2 × 15.2 × 17.7 inches and weighs 70.5 pounds according to the sheet. Confirm the service opening, turning clearance and mounting surface before ordering; this is not a lightweight portable unit to move between rooms. The manual describes a grounded 15-amp circuit, a level surface, hose connection and enough clearance around the air path. It also gives a maintenance section for cleaning the condensate-pump system at least annually. The pump adds a useful route option but also an internal reservoir, pump head and discharge tubing that need preventive cleaning. A blocked drain or unattended pump warning can stop moisture removal.

Cooling and ducting details are configuration-sensitive

AlorAir lists a 115-volt/60-Hz supply, 5.56 amps, 210 CFM, COP of 2.69 L/kWh, an operating range of 33.8–104°F and a 36–90% humidity setting on the exact product page. The sheet gives R32, while promotional feature copy on that same product page also names R410A. I do not select one refrigerant from conflicting manufacturer copy; check the appliance nameplate and exact service documentation before any refrigerant work. The sheet describes a MERV-1 pre-filter with MERV-8 as optional. A MERV-8 filter is not presented as a confirmed included item.

The manual supports ducted layouts: it calls the supply adapter standard on the series and the return duct collar optional. The page also offers an optional remote controller, but the exact non-Wi-Fi guide does not make that accessory an app-control feature. Wi-Fi, phone-app control and remote pump activation remain unconfirmed for this configuration. If those functions are essential, the Wi-Fi version is a separate listing and should be assessed separately.

How it differs from its close alternatives

Pick this HDi90 if a pump route is genuinely needed and the final lift geometry has been verified. Pick the plain HD90 when a reliable gravity fall is available and there is no need to add pump-maintenance tasks. The separately listed HDi90 Duct-able and Wi-Fi variants share the 90-pint class but have their own product pages and package claims; do not assume those names prove a different pump lift, included duct kit or included advanced filter. In particular, the HDi90 Built-in Pump does not meet an essential numeric pump-lift requirement until a source documents a rise at least that high. It is a poor match for anyone who only has a downhill drain and prefers the simpler gravity route, or for a room that needs a bucket rather than continuous plumbing.
