Model comparison
Frigidaire FHDP5033Y1 vs FHDP6033W1: pump route and capacity
The two Frigidaire pump models compared here are not just 50-pint and 60-pint versions of the same control package. FHDP5033Y1 adds Wi-Fi and ENERGY STAR certification in a shorter, lighter cabinet; FHDP6033W1 has the larger rating and bucket, but no Wi-Fi or ENERGY STAR listing and a higher published weight. Both manuals state the same 5-metre (16.4-foot) maximum pump distance and rise, and both rely on a fitted tank during pump operation.
The rating and bucket are different measurements
The FHDP5033Y1 is rated at 50 pints per day with a 1.9-gallon tank. The FHDP6033W1 is rated at 60 pints per day with a 3.2-gallon tank. The first number is the published removal rating; the second is the container size before emptying. A larger bucket may reduce the frequency of manual emptying, but it does not prove the larger model will remove ten more pints from a particular room every day. Temperature, humidity, room airflow and ongoing moisture entry affect the actual amount.
Neither pump behaves as a bucketless drain. The exact manuals describe the pump starting after the tank reaches the full point and stopping after the tank empties. The FHDP5033Y1 manual separately describes a gravity hose to a lower drain; its gravity instructions recommend a 1/2-inch-or-larger hose without kinks or raised sections. The FHDP6033W1 guide similarly explains bucket, gravity and pump choices. If a lower floor drain is nearby, gravity can be the simpler fit; if the receiving point is above the appliance, measure the route before relying on the pump.
Shared pump limit, not the same daily routine
Both owner manuals state that the maximum pump-hose distance and rise may be 5 metres, or 16.4 feet, from the appliance. Frigidaire warns that exceeding it can damage the unit or cause leaks. Measure both height and the full hose path. Do not treat a published limit as a guarantee for a kinked, frozen or poorly secured route, and verify the destination can accept condensate safely.
The units diverge on convenience. FHDP5033Y1’s exact page and specification sheet list Wi-Fi, app features and ENERGY STAR certification, along with a 24-hour on/off timer. The FHDP6033W1 sheet lists Wi-Fi disabled, ENERGY STAR certification No and no 24-hour timer. Both have automatic shutoff, automatic restart and continuous-drain operation. If you need an app or timer, the 60-pint product is not a like-for-like upgrade.
Compare actual space, weight and published sound
The 50-pint body is listed at 19.1 × 18.9 × 9.9 inches and 41.89 pounds dry. The 60-pint model is 24.6 × 18.8 × 14.2 inches and 58 pounds. That makes the higher-capacity model taller and deeper, with appreciably more weight to move across stairs or thresholds. Its wheels help on a suitable level floor, but they do not solve doorway clearance or make a full bucket lighter.
Frigidaire lists 49/51.5 dBA low/high for the 50-pint model and 53/57 dBA for the 60-pint model. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements, and room placement affects how noticeable either will be. Keep enough clearance for the top outlet and avoid blocking airflow. Both exact manuals give an operating range of 41–89°F and 30–80% RH, call for a level floor and recommend filter cleaning every two weeks. The pump filter also needs regular attention.
Which should you consider?
- Consider FHDP5033Y1 if a 50-pint rating is appropriate, you value its connected controls and certification, and its smaller tank and lower dry weight fit your routine.
- Consider FHDP6033W1 if the 60-pint rating and larger 3.2-gallon tank matter more, and its heavier/deeper cabinet and non-connected controls are acceptable.
- Choose neither for a pump route beyond the manuals’ stated distance/rise limit or for bucketless pumping. A different model with an exact-manual-supported route may be a better fit.
Both capacities are ratings, not guarantees of room size, dry-down time or utility cost. Compare the model number on the appliance and current seller listing, then use that exact manual to check fittings and placement. If water is entering through an active leak, repair the source rather than treating a portable dehumidifier as a building fix.
