Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does the ADHE25BWF meet a 25-pint/day minimum?
GE lists 25 pints/day for this exact suffix. That rating is not a promise of output in a particular room.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the ADHE25BWF use a downhill gravity hose without its bucket removed?
The family manual requires the bucket to be seated during operation; the separate garden hose must run downhill and is not supplied.
Explore this need in the finder →Does its 33-pound dry weight fit a 33-pound moving limit?
The exact GE table lists 33 pounds net; water in the bucket adds lifting weight.
Explore this need in the finder →The GE ADHE25BWF is the smallest-capacity member of this Smart Dry family: a 25-pint-per-day portable unit with an 8.5-pint bucket, washable filter, three manual fan speeds, and a compact 19.4-inch cabinet. Its practical appeal is the smaller footprint, not a special drain arrangement: the manual requires the bucket to remain seated even when a gravity hose is attached.
This earlier-model assessment uses the exact GE ADHE25BWF product page and the linked GE owner manual 49-5001090 Rev. 1. GE’s product page currently says the model is no longer manufactured and out of stock online; this is a reference for owners or a specific clearance/used listing, not a current-model pick.
Why choose the 25-pint version?
GE rates the ADHE25BWF at 25 pints per day, gives it an 8.5-pint reservoir, and lists the cabinet at 19.4 inches high by 13.2 inches wide by 9.9 inches deep. Its published net weight is 33 pounds. The exact table also lists an integrated energy factor of 1.6 L/kWh, top air discharge, 124/100 CFM high/low airflow, a 115-volt supply, and a three-speed fan. Those are manufacturer specifications; they are not independent extraction, noise, or power-bill measurements.
Compared with the ADHE35BWF, this version gives up ten pints per day of rated capacity while keeping the same cabinet dimensions and 8.5-pint tank. That makes the decision less about whether one can fit where the other cannot and more about the rated capacity and the amount of moisture you expect the unit to handle. The rating cannot predict room results by itself. Temperature, humidity, outside-air exchange, room boundaries, and ongoing moisture sources all matter. A closed closet beside a basement room will not dry merely because a portable unit is running outside it; the manual calls for air circulation into adjacent enclosed spaces.
The small bucket is still the daily constraint
An 8.5-pint bucket holds only about one-third of the published daily removal rating. In a wet room, collection by bucket means checking and emptying the tank well before a full day may pass. The unit stops when the tank is full or removed, and an alarm sounds when it is full or not seated. Those protections reduce surprise, but they do not turn tank collection into unattended drainage.
For a continuous route, GE documents a garden hose leading downhill to a floor drain. The hose is not supplied. The bucket must be replaced and correctly seated after the hose is connected; this is not a bucketless configuration. The exact ADHE25BWF specification page does not list a built-in pump, and its manual reserves pump operation for “some models.” Do not buy this suffix for an uphill outlet based on the broader family manual or a similar-looking 50-pint cabinet.
Controls and the setup the manual actually calls for
The display reports the set humidity while adjusting and then the room reading, which GE says is accurate to within ±5 percentage points. You can select 35%–80% RH in five-point increments or choose Nonstop. Smart Dry is a separate automatic fan-speed mode that responds to the difference between the target and room humidity; High, Medium, and Low remain the three manual fan choices. The product table lists a 24-hour on/off timer, automatic restart, automatic defrost, and a 250-hour filter reminder.
The shared owner manual says the 25- and 35-pint units ship with four casters to install: take the casters from the bag inside the bucket, gently lay the cabinet on its front or back, slide the wheels into place, stand it upright, then wait an hour before use. It also requires an indoor residential location between 41°F and 90°F with at least 18 inches of clear air space around the cabinet. Allow room for the top discharge and for removing the front bucket; the cabinet dimensions alone do not describe the working footprint.
Who this exact reference suits
ADHE25BWF is worth comparing when a labeled unit is already in the home, or when a particular earlier listing matches this exact suffix and its 25-pint rating, small reservoir, and gravity-only route fit the job. It is not the better choice simply because it is smaller: a full bucket still needs lifting, the manual does not document bucketless operation, and the lower rating may be the wrong trade if the room has a larger moisture load. The 35-pint sibling has the same stated body size and tank volume, so its higher rating does not remove that collection interruption.
GE’s product page calls this model no longer manufactured, while the exact owner-support page still carries a May 2025–Present manufactured-date line. Treat that as unresolved current availability, not proof of retail stock. A real seller’s listing must match ADHE25BWF exactly, and no listing establishes a remaining warranty or the condition of a used unit. If a new unit is the goal, start with current reviewed products; if this exact model is under consideration, compare its serial/model label, tank and drain setup, and written seller terms before making a decision.
