Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does the ADHE35BWF meet a 35-pint/day minimum?
GE lists 35 pints/day for the exact ADHE35BWF page; room-specific collection will vary.
Explore this need in the finder →Will the 19.4-inch cabinet fit a 19.4-inch height limit?
The exact page lists 19.4 inches high; the manual separately requires 18 inches of air space around the unit.
Explore this need in the finder →Does it offer three manual fan-speed choices?
The manual names High, Medium and Low as manual speeds; Smart Dry is an additional automatic response, not a fourth manual speed.
Explore this need in the finder →The GE ADHE35BWF raises the family’s published rating to 35 pints per day without taking more floor space than the ADHE25BWF: both are listed at 19.4 × 13.2 × 9.9 inches and use an 8.5-pint bucket. It is an earlier-model reference, not a current model recommendation, and its modest tank is the practical limit shared with the smaller sibling.
This assessment follows the exact GE ADHE35BWF product page, its exact owner-support page, and the family manual 49-5001090 Rev. 1. GE’s page says the model is no longer manufactured and online availability is out of stock; keep the suffix separate from neighboring variants.
More rating, not a bigger cabinet
The exact product table lists 35 pints per day, 36 pounds net, and high/low dry airflow of 141/105 CFM. Its dimensions match the ADHE25BWF at 19.4 inches high, 13.2 wide, and 9.9 deep. Both list the same 8.5-pint tank, 1.6 L/kWh integrated energy factor, three manual fan speeds, top discharge, and 115-volt supply. This is a useful distinction if cabinet space is fixed: moving up to the 35-pint model does not mean moving up to the 50-pint cabinet. It also does not create a larger water reservoir.
A rated capacity is a standardized specification, not a promise that the unit removes exactly that amount in your room. The manual recommends closing outside openings, using the unit in an enclosed area, and allowing at least a day when first establishing a humidity level. Room temperature, air circulation, outside humidity, and moisture sources affect the result. Fix leaks or persistent water entry separately; neither a larger number on the label nor Smart Dry repairs a building-water problem.
Same small reservoir, same bucket routine
The 8.5-pint bucket is far smaller than the model’s daily rating. When humidity is high, hand collection can interrupt operation repeatedly. GE documents an alarm for a full or missing bucket and an automatic stop when the tank is removed or not properly positioned. Those features are convenient reminders, not an overflow bypass or permission to run the appliance without its reservoir.
The continuous-drain alternative is a garden hose connected to the side outlet and routed downhill to a floor drain. GE does not include that hose. The owner manual tells the user to put the bucket back and seat it securely, so the gravity route still needs the reservoir installed. The exact ADHE35BWF page does not list Built-In Pump; the family manual says an internal pump exists only “on some models,” and the separate ADHE50PWF page is the one that specifies it. Do not treat this 35-pint suffix as pump-equipped or use it for a raised outlet.
Smart Dry is a setting, not an app claim
The control display gives the set relative-humidity target while it is being changed, then the room reading with a stated ±5% accuracy. The manual offers 35%–80% RH in five-point steps or Nonstop. Smart Dry automatically adjusts fan speed according to target versus room humidity; the three manual fan choices are High, Medium, and Low. GE lists a 24-hour on/off timer, auto restart after a power interruption, auto defrost, and a filter reminder after 250 hours of operation.
Do not infer wireless control from a generic SmartHQ or Wi-Fi block that appears around the manufacturer’s broader product-page template. The ADHE35BWF spec row does not list Wi-Fi Connect; that capability is positively listed on the separate ADHE50WWF row. Treat app control for this exact 35-pint suffix as unconfirmed and do not count Smart Dry as evidence of a phone connection.
Placement and first-day setup
GE lists the unit at 36 pounds dry, so moving it between rooms is possible on its easy-roll wheels but still involves lifting a water-filled bucket and moving around a cabinet that must sit on a strong, level floor. The 25- and 35-pint units require the four included casters to be installed. The manual says to lay the cabinet down carefully for that installation and wait one hour after putting it upright before plugging it in. It specifies indoor residential use, an operating range of 41°F–90°F, and 18 inches of free space on all sides. Keep doors and windows closed during operation, leave the top outlet unobstructed, and make sure a neighboring enclosed closet has an air path.
Who should keep the ADHE35BWF in view?
It is the more capacity-oriented option when comparing the exact earlier GE pair and the shared 19.4-inch footprint is useful. It is not a shortcut to lower bucket-maintenance effort: it retains the 8.5-pint tank and the same required seated-bucket arrangements. If a higher capacity and a larger reservoir are both essential, the 50-pint family is a different, taller cabinet; if the outlet must be uphill, only an exact model with a documented pump and height limit can qualify.
The product page currently labels ADHE35BWF no longer manufactured and out of stock online; the support page’s May 2025–Present date range conflicts with that lifecycle message. The safe position is earlier reference only, with no current stock assumption. A used or remaining clearance listing should show this exact model, not merely “GE 35 pint.” Check physical condition, included bucket and casters, and the manual before deciding. For a new purchase, compare current models rather than treating the ADHE35BWF as an available replacement.
