LG PuriCare Sonoran

Choose between LG’s 25-, 35- and 50-pint Sonoran dehumidifiers

The current LG U.S. catalog contains four exact listings: black DT251BKR0 at 25 pints, black DT351BKR0 at 35 pints, and DT501BKR0/DT501BWR0 in black or white at 50 pints. Start with the capacity threshold that matters, then check tank handling, drain height, app setup and cabinet clearance.

The 25- and 35-pint bodies share a size

The common LG manual gives both DT25*B*R* and DT35*B*R* dimensions of 14.43 inches wide, 8.66 deep and 24.02 high. It does not provide a product weight or tank volume for either capacity. The difference confirmed in the current U.S. catalog is the rated class: the DT251BKR0 is 25 pints/day and the DT351BKR0 is 35. A shopper with a 25-pint minimum can compare both; a strict 35-pint floor excludes the 25-pint version. The rating describes a model class, not how much water one particular room will yield each day.

Both black units share the same documented controls: Manual, Auto, Continuous and Boost, with a 30–70% RH set range in five-point increments for Manual mode and Auto/Low/Medium/High fan choices. Auto does not accept a target, Continuous uses low fan speed, and Boost uses high fan for one hour before returning to Auto. Their exact support pages use “Smart” in the product name and the shared family manual includes ThinQ; the app works over 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi. Do not assume that a smart-home graphic changes the model’s capacity or drain route.

The 50-pint pair is a color choice, not a pump choice

The DT501BKR0 (black) and DT501BWR0 (white) are separate exact U.S. model codes, but LG’s catalog titles list them at the same 50-pint class and the family manual gives them the same 16.73 × 11 × 23.86-inch cabinet. The product pages show a 14.3-pint collection tank, a hose option, four operating modes and ThinQ Wi-Fi. The EPA record for DT501BKR0 lists DT501BWR0 among the related model identifiers; it reports a 49.81-pint/day test capacity, 2.01 L/kWh IEF, 524 kWh/year and HFC-32 refrigerant. LG separately markets about 50 pints/day under a third-party Appendix X1 Boost-mode test at 65°F/60% RH. Keep the published class and program test values in their own context rather than treating the rounding difference as a second hardware model.

The two finishes do not add a water pump. Their exact manual plans are a fitted bucket or gravity hose to a lower drain, with the bucket seated. A color choice cannot satisfy an uphill drain requirement. The 50-pint review identifies the black and white codes together; choose the seller listing that matches the finish you want rather than inferring that a page image proves the exact cabinet on every offer.

Plan the water route before comparing the capacity

For the 25-, 35- and 50-pint Sonoran models, the manual includes a 14.5-mm-inside-diameter hose and drain adapter. The receiving outlet must be at least four inches below the drain connection. The tank has to be reinstalled after connecting the hose, and the product does not dehumidify when the bucket is absent. A standard garden hose can connect using the included adapter, but it is not part of the listed included hose. LG does not state total gravity-hose reach in this manual.

In practice, choose bucket collection if you can empty the tank and gravity drainage only if the route can descend continuously. These units are poor fits for a sink or drain above the appliance because no pump, vertical lift ceiling or pump hose route is documented. They also fail a strict bucketless requirement. A pump label from a different brand or an older LG product is not evidence for a Sonoran model.

Use the model-specific facts, not the same image

LG’s 25- and 35-pint catalog gallery cards return byte-identical black cabinet artwork. That image shows the shared exterior and top panel but cannot distinguish output class or prove interior hardware. The 50-pint black and white images do visibly differ in finish, but neither reveals a drain pump. Read the exact model code and capacity label; do not use a photo alone as a technical specification.

The 50-pint pair is the only capacity tier in this family with an EPA ENERGY STAR record in the sources checked here. The 25- and 35-pint exact suffixes do not inherit its certification status, IEF or annual energy figure. Their status remains unknown unless a model-matched certification record is found. Similarly, the 40-dB mention appears in 50-pint marketing imagery without a clear test mode; it is not a comparable independent noise measurement. Exact net weights and 25/35 tank capacities were not found. If weight, dBA, a required efficiency threshold or a precise hose maximum is essential, wait for an exact source instead of filling the gap with sibling data.

Operating and care limits to keep in view

The family manual lists 120 V, 60 Hz power, a 38°F–109°F operating range, automatic defrost, 12 inches of wall clearance and monthly pre-filter cleaning. After 23 hours of continuous operation, the safety standby sequence takes one hour before normal operation resumes. These are useful setup boundaries; the lower temperature number does not mean the appliance maintains the same extraction rate in colder air. LG also says dehumidification changes room conditions and that no unit is a cooling device.

Read the DT251BKR0 assessment for the 25-pint option, the DT351BKR0 assessment for the 35-pint step-up, or the shared 50-pint DT501BKR0/DT501BWR0 assessment for the EPA record, larger cabinet and two finishes. Compare the exact drain and space requirements against the room before choosing; a rated pint number does not establish a real-room result.
