GE ADHR/AWHR 22–50 pint models: exact suffixes and drain limits
The four earlier GE models here share digital controls, Smart Dry, a washable mesh filter and a gravity drain, but the final letters change both capacity and connectivity. The ADHR22LB is rated 22 pints per day; ADHR35LB is 35; ADHR50LB and connected AWHR50LB are 50. All pages call the models no longer manufactured. Keep the reviews as owner references or exact-model comparisons, not current default buying picks.
Capacity changes more than the label
ADHR22LB and ADHR35LB use a short 19.5-inch cabinet and an 8.5-pint tank. The ADHR22 weighs 33.2 pounds and lists 1.57 L/kWh IEF, while the ADHR35 weighs 36.5 pounds and lists 1.8 L/kWh. Their published airflow differs too: 124/100 CFM for the 22-pint model and 141/105 CFM for the 35-pint version. GE specifies casters for the 22/35 units; install them and wait one hour before operating. The smaller tank stays the limiting daily chore for both.
The 50-pint ADHR50LB and AWHR50LB grow to a 24 1/8-inch cabinet, 15-pint tank and 42.8-pound net weight. Both list 200/160 CFM, a 1.8 IEF, and manufacturer sound figures of 50 dBA maximum and 47 dBA low. These remain printed specifications, not independent lab results. A 15-pint tank is still much smaller than the 50-pint daily rating, so a bucket-only plan may need frequent attention when conditions permit high collection.
AWHR means app connectivity, not a pump
AWHR50LB is the only exact suffix among these four whose technical table lists built-in Wi-Fi and whose model-specific manual includes SmartHQ setup. It shares its 50-pint cabinet and bucket with ADHR50LB. The AWHR manual offers a bucket or a separate garden hose leading downhill to a floor drain; the tank must remain installed and securely seated. No pump-lift route is established for either 50-pint suffix. App access cannot replace a drain path or a person emptying a full bucket.
ADHR22LB, ADHR35LB and ADHR50LB are not promoted here as app-controlled models. Their product pages contain generic GE connected-feature material, but their exact product tables do not list the built-in Wi-Fi field and the ADHR22/35/50 manual has no Wi-Fi setup section. Do not satisfy an essential app-control condition from boilerplate shared with other GE appliances. If Wi-Fi is a must-have in an ADHR/AWHR historical comparison, AWHR50LB is the exact entry to inspect; still verify the individual label and app setup on an older unit.
Every model uses the same practical water rules
The ADHR and AWHR manuals permit bucket collection or a gravity hose to a lower floor drain. The hose is not supplied. Both manuals say the bucket needs to be in place and seated for the appliance to operate, including with the hose attached. This family therefore cannot meet a required bucketless operation or an uphill drain need. Do not confuse a continuous-drain connector with an internal pump. For a raised outlet, compare a different exact model whose manual establishes pump lift and tank behavior.
Controls, installation and care
Both manual families specify a 35%–80% relative-humidity range in five-point steps or Nonstop operation, ±5% display accuracy, three manually selected speeds plus Smart Dry automatic fan adjustment, auto defrost, power-outage restart and a full-bucket alarm/shutoff. GE lists a 24-hour on/off timer and a washable permanent mesh filter with a 250-hour reminder. The filter must be washed and dried before it is returned; the tank should be cleaned regularly. The manuals limit use to indoor residential spaces from 41°F through 90°F and call for 18 inches of open clearance on each side. The discharge grille and bucket still need clear access beyond the cabinet measurements.
Owner reference versus current purchase
Exact GE product pages say these models are no longer being manufactured. Their support pages give separate manufacturing ranges: ADHR22LB March 2022–January 2025; ADHR35LB March 2022–February 2025; ADHR50LB March 2022–November 2023; and AWHR50LB March 2022–June 2023. A clearance or used listing does not establish local stock, remaining warranty or appliance condition. Check the entire model label, tank and filter, and—only for AWHR50LB—the original Wi-Fi capability. For a current 22-pint comparison, see the Midea MAD22S1AWWT; at 35 pints, compare the Midea MAD35S1AWWT; for current 50-pint models, compare their exact pump, filtration and app differences instead of treating an earlier GE suffix as available.
Read the ADHR22LB review for the compact lower-rated option, the ADHR35LB review for the short 35-pint body, the ADHR50LB review for the no-listed-Wi-Fi 50-pint version, and the AWHR50LB review for the exact connected sibling. The product pages provide current model-status statements; they do not promise that a specific seller has inventory or a warranty.
